Conference Program

MAA & MAP Joint Annual Meeting

14-16 April 2011 | Scottsdale, AZ

Location of Events:

All sessions and events will be held at the Chaparral Suites, Scottsdale. Session rooms will be found at the East Complex of the hotel.

The registration desk and the book exhibits will be adjacent to each other in the Chaparral Conference Center, also within the East Complex.

Audio-visual equipment as needed by individual presenters at the time of their session will be provided. All of the rooms at the conference will have wireless capability.

Registration Desk:

The registration desk will be located in the Chaparral Conference Center's West Foyer. It will be open Thursday from from 12:00 to 6:00 pm, Friday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Saturday from 8:00 - 4:00 pm. Participants who have pre-registered can pick up their conference packets there. The desk will also accept new registrations at this time. However, there will be a 30 dollar late registration fee. Cash, checks, and credit cards will be accepted.

Book Exhibits:

Book exhibits can be found adjacent to the registration desk in the North Foyer of the same building. The exhibits will be open on Thursday from 12:00 to 6:00 pm, Friday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Saturday from 8:00 am to 4.00 pm.

Sessions and Events:

Thursday, April 14th

Concurrent sessions run from 12:30 to 2:15 pm. At 2:30, a welcoming address and plenary session will take place in the Chaparral Conference Center. The opening reception is 5:30 to 7:00 pm on the West Patio at the conference center.

Friday, April 15th

Concurrent sessions run from 8:30 am and continue until 5:15 pm. A presidential address will be given at 5:30 pm in the Chaparral Conference Center and will be followed by a reception on the West Patio from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. The Friday banquet will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 pm also in the Conference Center.

Saturday, April 16th

Concurrent sessions run from 8:30 am to 5:15 pm. The closing reception will be held on the West Patio from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.

A more thorough schedule with time tables, room names, names of speakers and their presentation titles will be found in the conference registration packets or at the registration desk.

Food and Drink:

Coffee and tea, continental breakfasts: Coffee and tea breaks will be held during the conference and will be found in the North Foyer of the Chaparral Conference Center near the book exhibits. Continental breakfasts on Friday and Saturday will be held in the same location.

Receptions and banquet: Three receptions will be held during the conference, the cost of which is included in the registration fee. Be sure to mark the appropriate spaces on your registration form to indicate which receptions you plan to attend. Those who wish to attend the banquet on Friday must indicate as such on their registration form and pay the additional fee. (Please note that the combined registration and banquet fee reserved for MAA members does include the banquet fee.)

Lunches: At noon on Friday and Saturday, one hour will be reserved for conference participants to find lunch. The MAA business meeting lunch on Friday will be held in the Chaparral Conference Center.
