NEH Shakespeare Conference

Diversifying Shakespeare: Engaging Students beyond Boundaries

Background
The University of Arizona hosted First Folio! The Book that gave us Shakespeare February 15 – March 15, 2016. Exhibit programming support came from professors in multiple disciplines at University of Arizona (UA) and Arizona State University (ASU). Programming included lectures, concerts, plays, a “Saturday with Shakespeare” family event, a teachers’ workshop, and a companion exhibit in Special Collections.

Collaboration
Building on the First Folio! collaboration, Northern Arizona University (NAU) and statewide community colleges have joined this project. This collaboration will cross disciplinary boundaries, including scholars from English, theater, history, digital humanities, cultural studies, science, and linguistics.

Statewide Conference
The undergraduate-focused conference will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 9:00-5:00 (complimentary breakfast at 8:30am and complimentary lunch for all participants) and will take place in the Navajo Room of Mesa Community College (MCC) 1833 W Southern Ave, Mesa, AZ 85202.
