Featuring Dr. Sharonah Fredrick, Assistant Director of the Arizona Center of Medieval and Renaissance Studies, this presentation will discuss the influence of Pre-Colombian goddesses on colonial and modern Latin American culture. Coatlicue, Xtabay, and Ixchel in México, Guatemala and Honduras; Chaupi Namca en Perú; Chía and Bachué in northern South America reveal the permanence of indigenous heritage as a central element of everyday life, aesthetics as well as artistic and literary creation in Latin America.
