Selected a “best bibliography in history” by Reference and User Services Quarterly 2004.
Albert the Great: A Selectively Annotated Bibliography (1900-2000) provides the first comprehensive bibliography and research guide to literature on the great Dominican, Albertus Magnus (d. 1280). Although concentrating on twentieth-century materials, some earlier materials as well as 2001-2002 imprints are also included. Organized according to various categories—Theology, Philosophy, Natural Science, Life and Works, etc.—this bibliography will enable the researcher to locate and identify texts, editions, and translations of Albert's works, and historical, philosophical, and theological studies. The works contains approximately 2,500 entries, including articles and monographs. Reviews of most monographs are indicated, and abstracts for a substantial number of publications appearing in scholarly journals in English and European languages are provided. In sum, the work will assist both the student and scholar to navigate the vast literature treating Albert the Great.
