ACMRS seeks candidates for the position of Production Manager and Publishing Coordinator
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Consults with General Editor and Managing Editor on MRTS (Medieval and Renaissance
Texts and Studies) and several other book series. Responsible for all aspects
of production: format and page design, galleys and page proofs, page checks,
photos and figures, CR and CR checks, blues, check copy, cover/case design.
Maintains records of all volumes in production. Conducts all bidding and
consultation with printers. Files CIP applications, permissions, and copyright
applications. Determines appropriate fees for permission-to-reprint requests.
Serves as primary liason with domestic and international fulfillment houses;
ensures book orders that come to ACMRS office are directed to appropriate
distributor in a timely manner; coordinates with houses concerning special
discounts for booksellers, etc. and is primary contact for vendors wishing
to obtain special discounts. Assists with formatting and series information
for copublished books. Approves all invoices related to production and passes
them on for processing; invoices authors, advertisers as needed. Coordinates
mailing of complimentary books to manuscript reviewers. Provides production
details for grant applications and book subventions. Designs domestic and
international catalogues and coordinates their printing and mailing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Bachelor's degree. Evidence of educational background in related field
or three (3) years work experience in scholarly publishing (e.g. desktop
publishing in c-r-c and PDF formats and the coordination of printing and
distribution of printed books). Demonstrated knowledge of Quark Express
and Adobe Photoshop software.
Desired:
Master's degree or PhD. Training in medieval
and Renaissance culture.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Salary: $38,000 - $40,000. 12 - 18 books published annually. Must be able
to begin August 1, 2004.
